A 27-year-old Waupaca man is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide, eluding and other charges after allegedly shooting a woman in the face late Monday night. According to the criminal complaint Jonathan Cardoso shot his girlfriend because he thought she was cheating on him. He called 911and told them he had a bomb with him and if they wanted him they would have to kill him. Police arrested him after a short chase and standoff. The woman was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah in critical condition.

Waupaca Police say a woman was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah Monday night after she was shot at a home in Waupaca. She was found in the home with a gunshot wound. A man claiming to be her boyfriend called about 10:43 that evening saying he had shot her. Officers spotted his vehicle north of the city and there was a short chase and standoff that ended up with him in custody. A handgun was recovered by police at the scene of the chase. No names were released.
