Dr. Barbara Herzog Voted to Serve on WASB Board of Directors

Dr. Barbara Herzog of the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) Board of Education was elected 2nd vice president of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Board of Directors on Jan. 22. She is the representative for WASB Region 7 on the 15-member Board of Directors. The region includes 27 school districts in the Oshkosh area.
John Ashley, executive director of the WASB, welcomed Herzog to the Executive Committee. “Barbara’s long experience as a teacher, administrator and board member, combined with her devotion to lifelong education, makes her a valuable addition to the Executive Committee,” he said. “Her leadership includes commitments to equity of opportunity and the involvement of parents in the educational process.”
Herzog holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a doctorate in educational administration and adult learning from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is an active volunteer who serves on nonprofit boards in the Oshkosh area.
“On behalf of the Oshkosh Area School District, we are incredibly proud of our School Board President, Dr. Barbara Herzog, for this amazing accomplishment,” said Dr. Vickie Cartwright, OASD Superintendent of Schools. “Her leadership and experience will be an asset to the WASB Executive Committee.”
Joining Herzog on the Executive Committee are President Bill Yingst, a member of the Durand-Arkansaw School Board; 1st Vice President Sue Todey, a member of the Sevastopol School Board; and Immediate Past President Brett Hyde, of the Muskego-Norway School Board.
Herzog will serve a one-year term as WASB 2nd vice president.
The WASB is a membership organization representing all 421 school boards and 12 cooperative educational service agency (CESA) boards of control in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards is a nonprofit association that provides information and services to Wisconsin school boards in the areas of school law and policymaking, legislation and leadership development.
