Velvet Caravan Returning To Thrasher

Rooted in the Gypsy Jazz/Gypsy Swing and Latin Swing styles, Velvet Caravan, a high-energy, acoustic-based quintet of guitar, violin, standup bass, percussion and keyboards (including accordion) has emerged as one of the shining lights of Savannah’s burgeoning music scene. Join us on Saturday, February 29 at 7:30 p.m. when – back by popular demand – the band brings their top-notch skills and unforgettable live show to the historic Thrasher Opera House in downtown Green Lake.
Bringing together the eclectic sounds are a motley crew of super talented musicians from Venezuela, the Great Northwest, The Heartland, Atlantic Northeast and the Coastal Empire. Praised for its “compositional whimsy and ferocious technique” (The Austin Chronicle), the quintet’s varied lineage contributes to its eclectic sound, as the group weaves thick threads of Latin and gypsy music into acoustic swing jazz” (The Austin Chronicle).
Since it’s beginning, Velvet Caravan’s journey has continued to gain momentum, as its reputation for top-notch virtuosity and unforgettable live shows has become the band’s unique global brand. Whether on the big stage with a full orchestra or in an intimate jazz club, the band remains tight and vibrantly free…and a whole lot of high-energy fun!
