Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to a fire at Barber Enterprises storage units at N7805 Minnesota Avenue in the Town of Friendship late Monday night. When they arrived smoke and flames were visible coming from one of the storage units. A passerby saw smoke coming from one of the units and called the county’s communications center shortly after 11 pm. Sheriff’s Sergeant Alex Volm says there was quite a bit of damage to the storage units. “Approximately 19 storage units total received some damage as a result of the fire. Of the 19 storage units, approximately 5 of the units and their contents are considered to be a complete loss.” He says there is believed to be approximately $100,000 of damage just to the building itself. That does not include the monetary amount of damage done to the contents of those units. The cause of the fire is being determined, but the fire is not considered suspicious. Fire departments from Van Dyne, North Fond du Lac, the Town of Fond du Lac, Eldorado, the City of Fond du Lac, and Lamartine responded to the blaze.
