Ripon, Wisconsin, January 2020 — The Ripon Education Foundation announces two new scholarships will be available to graduating Ripon High School seniors from the class of 2020 thanks to the generosity of a RHS graduate.
Justin Krueger, Ripon High School Class of 1997, has generously funded two $5,000 scholarships offered through the Ripon Education Foundation Scholarship program. These awards will be presented as part of the school’s Senior Awards night, scheduled for May 13th, 2020.
The scholarships will be offered to graduating Ripon seniors and selected using the following criteria:
Scholarship #1 – Community Service – Applicant must be very active in providing service in the Ripon Community and planning to continue his or her education.
Scholarship #2 – Trade School – Applicant must be planning to attend a Post-Secondary Technical College, University or Trade School and major in a Trade field (example: welding, construction, machine tooling, electrician, mechanical engineering, etc.)
The two awardees will be selected from the applicants by the Ripon Education Foundation Scholarship Committee Applications are available through the Fox River Scholarship Center online at http://www.foxriverscholarshipcenter.org. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is January 31, 2020.
The new scholarships are a result of an interaction Justin had with a Facebook page called “Ripon Tiger Alumni – all years welcome!!” which is maintained by retired Ripon High School teacher, Sue Mokler. The page was created to help keep RHS alumni in the loop with former classmates and teachers. Sue serves as Alumni liaison for the Ripon Education Foundation. “I was excited to hear from Justin and immediately began to help get him in contact with the Foundation’s Development chair,” said Mokler.
“Justin’s desire to help Ripon High School seniors continue their educations after graduation perfectly exemplifies the mission of the Ripon Education Foundation. We are thrilled he has partnered with us this year and we are hopeful that this is the beginning of a long partnership,” said Bill Neill, Ripon Education Foundation Development chair.
“I am excited to provide multiple scholarships in my hometown. My career is centered around changing lives by revitalizing communities. I have seen first-hand that our country lacks skilled craft-workers who can work “hands-on” in construction and engineering and provide quality work. It is important to me that someone utilizes this opportunity to make a career out of a trade school education. Equally important to me is being a genuinely good person. Being a good person probably sounds easy for a lot of us, but we live in a world where finding good people is getting more difficult. The Community Service scholarship rewards someone who wants to make a difference in this world and is willing to make an impact in their community” said Krueger.
