Dear Community Friends,

Are you ready for the ugly library wall in Wautoma to be fixed up?! So are we! The Wautoma Public Library Board of Trustees has hired muralist Kelly Meredith of Butternut, WI to paint a new mural. Kelly has done over 125 murals in Wisconsin including in Stevens Point, Pardeeville, and Ashland. Instead of painting directly onto the wall (we all know it won’t work), Kelly will be painting in her studio onto fifty 4’x8’ PolyMetal panels. Once the painting is completed, the panels will be mounted onto the Library Main Street Wall. After it's installed, the plan is to extend the stonework used from the library entrance along the south wall below the mural.

The design for the mural features books and local wildlife and represents growing in knowledge and appreciation for the natural world around us. The artist’s bid and the installation of the panels will cost about $22,300. The stonework is estimated to cost about $18,000.

This project is partially funded by the City of Wautoma, the Wautoma Public Library, and our generous donors! We have applied for a Community Foundation Grant as well.

If you would like to contribute to the project, here are a few options for you!

  • Make a Donation directly to the project.
  • Profits from Library Merch purchases will go to the mural project.
  • Purchase a Commemorative Brick.
  • Passionate about a specific book? A $1,000 donation allows you to pick a book title to feature on the mural* and you will be gifted one of our small commemorative bricks!
  • Spread the word 😊

*Limited Quantities! The title must be appropriate, and the library will have final say.

Your donations can be sent to Wautoma Public Library, attention Library Main Street Wall Project, PO Box 269, 410 W. Main St., Wautoma, WI 54982.

Sincerely,

Wautoma Public Library
