APRIL LIBRARY EVENTS
Ripon, WI - The Ripon Public Library is pleased to spring into a fresh slate of programming for all ages. Keep reading to discover all that April has to offer! Thanks to the Friends of the Library, and other generous partners, programming is always free!  Unless noted, events take place at the library and registration is not required
 
BABY BOUNCE: A GROUP FITNESS TIME FOR CAREGIVERS, THEIR BABIES & PRESCHOOLERS! | WEDS @ 10 AM | APR 2 – 30
Callista Wesner, M.S. Exercise Science, hosts fun, friendly fitness! A variety of adult/child sizes, ages and abilities will be supported with a range of options and instruction. Keep the good energy going! Resource cards outlining each workout plus a QR code to a YouTube video are also provided.
Participants can expect to be active for about 20 minutes through each week’s unique content. The goal is to involve children safely in the action as long as they remain interested. If children need a break from the fitness session library staff will engage them in activities in the Romper Room allowing adults to continue. Stick around afterward for a healthy snack, camaraderie, and STAY & PLAY in the Romper Room!
All participants, adults and children, must have a liability waiver completed in advance. Waivers are available for pick up at the library or via the library website. After Baby Bounce all are welcome to STAY & PLAY in the Romper Room.
 
TRIVIA @ ROADHOUSE PIZZA | WED APR 2 @ 6:30 PM | ADULTS
Are you ready to put your knowledge to the test? Gather your friends, charge up your smartphones, and head over to Roadhouse Pizza for an exciting Trivia Night designed especially for adults!
Form a team and compete for the ultimate trivia champion title! Bring your smartphones to participate in interactive trivia rounds. Delicious food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
STORYTIME + STAY & PLAY | THURS @ 10 AM | APR 3 – MAY 8 (except April 24) | FOR KIDS & CAREGIVERS
Storytime features active learning and fun! Early literacy & STEM concepts come to life through stories, music, movement, and enrichment activities.
STAY AND PLAY in the Romper Room after Storytime. Kids release excess energy and advance their social and physical skills while adults connect.
 
GENEALOGY 101 WITH LARA GRANT | SAT APR 5 @ 1 PM | | ADULTS
This two-part series introduces resources available at Ripon Public Library and Ripon Historical Society with a focus on the library’s newest resource, Ancestry Library Edition.
Seating is limited. Call the library at 920-748-6160 to register for this session as well as part two scheduled at the same time on Saturday, May 31.
 
EMPOWERED LIVING SERIES: BETTER BRAIN HEALTH | MON APR 7 @ 6 PM | ADULTS
Empower yourself with the information you need to make the best decisions for your life! Melanie Simpkins leads this session, focusing on ways to reduce dementia risks and enhance brain health.
FRIENDS’ FAMOUS BOOKSALE + SEED SWAP | APR 10-12 | ALL AGES
The Friends of the Ripon Public Library’s renowned sale offers huge selections across many genres, all at great prices! Payments are accepted by cash, check, or credit/debit card.
  • THU APR 10 FROM 4-7 PM | EARLY BIRD SALE! | $3 ENTRY FEE - Enjoy a first look at the sale! Fee is waived for Friends Members.
  • FRI APR 11 FROM 10 AM-5 PM | BOOKSALE + SEED SWAP
Are you ready to kick off your spring planting? Bring your seeds and exchange them for new varieties! The seed swap takes place in the lower-level hallway during our Friends of the Library book sale. It's a great opportunity to gather seeds, browse books, and connect with new friends!

Snag fantastic deals – fill a paper bag with books from the last chance room for just $3! Check out the seed swap too!
 
EARTH DAY FIBER FEST! | SAT APR 12 | DROP-IN 1-3 PM | ALL AGES
Fast fashion, step aside! Transform beautiful fabric scraps into amazing creations, bring your mending projects for expert assistance, and acquire new skills along the way.
Fabric artists from Bungalow Quilting and the Quilted Underground will help participants craft a variety of delightful items, including bookmarks, tassels, bunting, pom poms, coasters, and jewelry.
Volunteer fiber enthusiasts offer support with creative mending solutions such as embroidery, patch, and appliqué embellishments. Bring those cherished items that you’ve held onto but haven’t used due to wear and tear. The team will guide you through the process with care, breathing new life into your garments and fabric treasures.
Youth 10 and under require adult accompaniment.
 
D&D GAME TIME | SUN APR 13 FROM 1-4 PM | ADULTS & TEENS AGES 11 & UP
Teens and adults join for an afternoon filled with Dungeons and Dragons, along with other role-playing games! Dive into a fantastical world where you can embody unique characters, engage in problem-solving, and collaborate with fellow players!
No experience necessary, beginners are welcome at this recurring event hosted on the second Sunday of each month.
MONDAY MATINEE | APR 14 @ 2:00 PM | ALL AGES
Enjoy a recent Academy Award winning movie in which the College of Cardinals meets at the Vatican, after the death of the Pope, to choose his successor. (PG 2h) Enjoy the library’s big screen, stereo sound, and popcorn.
ADULT GAME NIGHT | WED APR 16 @ 6 PM | AGES 16 & UP
Calling all strategists, team players, and those who like to test their luck—enjoy an evening of tabletop board games! Staff will be on hand to teach and guide players through a variety of entertaining and easy to learn games with no experience necessary.
Can’t make it? This recurring event is held in the Silver Creek Room on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
 
HOLIDAY CLOSURES IN APRIL
Please note the library will be closed in observance of Good Friday, April 18 and Easter, April 20. Saturday, April 19 the library will be open regular hours, 9 AM to 4 PM.

MONDAY CLASSIC MOVIE | APR 28 @ 2:00 PM | | ALL AGES
Academy Award winners, Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman light up the screen in one of the most enduring romances in movie history in this 1942 classic. (PG 1h 42m) Enjoy the library’s big screen, stereo sound, and popcorn.
 
BOOK CLUB | MON APR 28 @ 6:30 PM | ADULTS: Mad Honey by Jodi Piccoult and co-written with Jennifer Finney Boylan
Enjoy a friendly and thoughtful discussion with other book lovers! Books are available for check out prior to the discussion date. Stop at the library to get your copy.  Join us in person or online for a lively discussion!  A Zoom link for online participation can be found on the library website.

DROP-IN BOREDOM BUSTERS
  • Come play in the Romper Room. Physical activity and human connections are important for healthy, happy human beings, and the Romper Room facilitates both! Focusing on active play, the room features trikes, foot-to-floor vehicles, a balance bike, tunnels, tumbling mats, balance beams, and more. The Romper Room, which is open during regular library hours, is most engaging for ages 2-6 years, though younger/older kids are welcome.
  • Enjoy the always-available board games, toy library, and activity sheets located in the youth department.
  • Visit the community table where there is always a puzzle in progress! Stay for a bit and place a few pieces or settle in for a longer session.
