Hello,
I have recently started planning a fundraiser for a special 9-year-old boy named, Miguel Duran. Miguel’s family includes his mother, Arlene, a brother, Marcus -6, and 2 sisters Mia-3 and Lyla-1. On September 16, 2018, this family received devastating news, Miguel was again diagnosed with stage 4 Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that forms in soft tissue. The cancer is aggressive, leaving the young man with not a lot of time.
Miguel has been wrestling in the Wautoma Super Stingers youth program for 4 years. He has a love for the mat. Looking at Miguel you can forget how sick he really is, he hides it well for 9 years old. He is a fighter, and I pray that maybe the doctors are wrong, but the family is preparing themselves for the worst.
I am enlisting the help of family, friends and community members to get behind this 9-year-old hero. On Saturday, February 15, 2020, the community will gather for a fundraiser for Miguel and his family. It will be held at the Redgranite Lions Hall in Redgranite. With plenty of kid-oriented activities planned, it is sure to be a fun event. The event will run from 1-10pm, with games, food, bake sale, raffles, auctions, etc.
What I would like to ask you for is support. Support in donating items, large items for auctions, or monetary donation. You can contact me by phone, text or email, I will try to answer your questions.

It’s with a heavy heart that after speaking with the doctors yesterday that I must inform everyone Miguel will not be with us much longer. The cancer has returned chemo resistant to the standard medicine and is very very aggressive. They did give us a time frame of about 2-3 months. Miguel fought hard these last 15 months and we have been blessed to have him with us as long as we have. We are still going to do the oral chemo but there’s no guarantee it will do anything at all. For now, he has decided he will wrestle and go to school and make the best out of the time he has along with spending as much time with family and friends.
One thing I am looking for is a small adult size recliner with remote for Miguel. With this disease it will affect his muscles, making him weaker as time goes on. To be able to have his own chair and able to push a button for up/down will mean a lot to him for comfort.
The other, hoping to possible collect enough money at the fundraiser, or a few gracious donors for a newer vehicle for Arlene. She is driving a 2006 minivan, 170,000+ miles, in not the best condition. When Miguel was first diagnosed, she was driving several days a week at 232 miles round trip to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. With transporting 4 children, I would fear, that if this was my vehicle, that I would breakdown going or coming. The final is prayers. The family could use all the prayer you have.
