Community Foundation Announces New Community Event
The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is kicking off a new monthly virtual lunch and learn series called Community Lunch Hour.
This free event is a way for the Foundation to offer the entire community opportunities to explore and learn more about various community topics while connecting with others. Attendees will also be provided ways they can get involved and help make a difference. Topics will change monthly. Events will be held virtually until further notice.
Attendees can purchase a lunch option for $10 which will be provided to by local businesses, eateries, and restaurants.
Join us on October 26 from noon – 1 pm. We are partnering with St. Michael’s Breast Care Center and the Women’s Fund of Portage County to learn more about breast cancer awareness and prevention for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The St. Michael’s Breast Care Center here in Stevens Point opened in late 2018. The center provides personalized care essential for those navigating the difficult journey of breast cancer. We will be speaking to medical professionals from the Breast Care Center to learn more about the center that make it unique and essential for our community, as well as recommendations for breast cancer screening.
We will also be joined by Lorraine Avery from the Women’s Fund of Portage County. The Women’s Fund supported the Breast Care Center with a $50,000 gift to their campaign. Lorraine will speak on the importance of supporting efforts like this in our community.
