Celebrate 4th of July in Green Lake!
Diamonds in the Dark

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 | 12:00 pm to 9 pm | Deacon Mills Park/Playground Park
The Fourth of July in Green Lake has something for everyone as one of the largest Independence Day festivals in the area. Residents and visitors alike  can have a blast discovering exciting activities throughout Deacon Mills and Playground parks all day long!
Here's the schedule for the day!
  • Green Lake American Legion Post 306 Pancake Breakfast: From 7 am to 11 am, head on down to the Green Lake American Legion Post's new building and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast before enjoying the rest of the day's events.
  • Food and Treats: From 12 pm to 9 pm, Deacon Mills Park will be filled with numerous vendors serving food and treats for purchase throughout the day. Vendors include the Green Lake Rotary Club with brats, burgers, beer, and soda; Sassafras with summer soda splashers; Guth's End of the Trail Candy Shoppe with sweet treats and popcorn; and Crossroads Market with pulled pork sandwiches.
  • Musical Entertainment: No festival is complete without music! Deacon Mills Park will be home to two musical acts for your enjoyment.  Local singer Dan Braaksma will take the stage from 12 pm to 4 pm with a blend of country, jazz, blues, and rock, while Stereotype will perform from 5 pm to 9 pm with genres to please everyone--from rock, pop, and alternative to dance and country.
  • Buy a Duck/4th of July Novelties: Visit the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce booth in Deacon Mills Park to purchase your duck for the Duck Races. The Duck Races will take place at 3 pm down the Playground Park dam. Be sure to buy a duck for your chance to win Chamber Bucks! Ducks can also be purchased at Adam's Rib, Sassafras, and the Chamber office prior to the 4th of July.
  • Boat Parade: Check out all the decked out boats in the annual boat parade! The superhero/scifi-themed parade will sail past the Deacon Mills Wharf area at approximately 1 pm (please note, this time is an estimated time. The parade starts at 12:45 pm from the Highway A inlet).
  • Games and Activities: Have little ones? Head to Playground Park from 12 pm to 3 pm for the many children's activities for all ages. The park will be filled with games, a bounce house, Candy Guess games, tattoos and face painting, the Green Lake American Legion's Sink the Bismarck golf game, and so much more!
  • Parade: Beginning at 4 pm, catch the much-anticipated 4th of July parade as it strolls down Mill Street! There will be plenty of acts to see such as music, local organizations, clowns, Shriner units, big trucks from local contractors, and local emergency service vehicles.

Be sure to hang out into the evening for one of the most spectacular firework shows in the area! The show will begin at dusk above Green Lake. The best spot to witness this sight is over Dartford Bay in Deacon Mills Park.
