September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

A library card is a key to an arsenal of resources. Whether you’re a job hunter using our public computers, a tabletop gamer wanting to try something new, or a new reader seeking titles featuring your favorite characters, the library has something for you! This month, help us spread the word about the importance of a library card!

Cardholders can borrow not only books and other physical media, but also games, discovery kits, musical instruments, and more. Access databases, checkout digital books and audiobooks, and stream movies and music too!

Food for Fines & Free Library Card Replacements This Month

We believe library cards are so important that we want to help our current cardholders have fully usable cards. For the month of September, bring in non-perishable, un-expired food items to receive $1 off your library fines per item you bring in. We will forgive up to $10 on your account (excludes charges for lost or damaged items). Lose your card and need a new one? The $1 library card replacement fee is waived this month!

Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship and highlights the value of free and open access to information. The annual event brings together the entire book community — librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas. The theme for Banned Books Week 2024 is "Freed Between the Lines." We can find freedom in the pages of a book — but book bans and censorship threaten that freedom, along with many other rights and institutions. During Banned Books Week 2024 and beyond, let’s share our love of the right to read and the freedom found in books. Let’s be Freed Between the Lines! Stop by the library to browse our Banned Book displays and maybe check one out!
