FIRE DANGER HIGH

The state’s Department of Natural Resources is asking the public to check fire conditions before conducting outdoor burning activities. If you are in an area of High or Very High fire danger, stay vigilant and avoid outdoor burning. Spring is the most critical fire season in Wisconsin. So Far in 2025, 658 wildfires have burned 2,220 acres of land. The elevated fire danger will continue until there is significant rainfall, and the DNR is continuing to suspend burn permits in 30 counties where it has burn restriction authority. According to the DNR’s Wisburn website as of this morning the fire danger in Green Lake, Marquette, Waupaca and Waushara counties is high. DNR LAUNCHES ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY NAVIGATOR

In honor of National Small Business Week the state’s Department of Natural Resources has launched the new Environmental Responsibility Navigator to help small businesses with environmental compliance. The online tool was funded through the state budget and provides a one stop shop for businesses to easily understand the environmental requirements that apply to them, including those related to air pollution, water use/discharge and waste generation. The DNR created the Navigator to guide users through a series of questions about their plans for a new or expanding business or review of their existing operations. There is also customized information for a number of Wisconsin’s common business sectors, such as auto body repair, gasoline dispensing, grain handling, printing, wood products and many more. Even local governments may find the tool helpful in evaluating compliance with state rules.
