Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says a 19-year-old Green Bay woman left a massive path of destruction in her wake while trying to flee from law enforcement in downtown Fond du Lac Friday night. Shortly after 6:30 pm a Sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle going 50 miles an hour in a 25 mile an hour zone. The suspect’s vehicle increased its speed to over 80 miles an hour. The pursuit was terminated in the hopes the suspect would cut their speed. The suspect endangered other drivers by driving into the oncoming lane. As she continued north on North Main Street, she struck a southbound vehicle and eventually seven others before her vehicle came to rest and started on fire. The first vehicle that was struck also caught fire. Sheriff’s deputies and Fond du Lac Police rendered aid and tried to suppress the fires. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue responded and addressed the vehicle fires and assisted with injuries. Three people were treated at the scene and released. The damaged vehicles were all struck within a one block area. The suspect was taken to St. Agnes Hospital to be evaluated for injuries and afterwards was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple charges including OWI, endangering safety, and fleeing an officer. She had previously faced charges in Fond du Lac and Ozaukee counties.
