Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say a 79-year-old Fond du Lac man died when his SUV was struck by a dump truck at County Highway B and County Highway K Tuesday afternoon. Multiple 911 calls reported the accident in the Town of Eden just after 2 pm. Sheriff’s deputies, Eden Fire Department, and Campbellsport Ambulance responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed the man was traveling east on County Highway B and tried to make a left turn to go northbound on County Highway K. He didn’t yield to a dump truck which struck his SUV. The SUV went into the north ditch and the dump truck struck an eastbound cement truck before going into the south ditch. Despite life-saving efforts the SUV driver died at the scene. The 67-year-old Fond du Lac man driving the dump truck was evaluated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries. A 61-year-old Van Dyne man driving the cement truck was not injured and was allowed to leave the scene. County Highway B was closed for approximately 4 hours.
