5/25/25 Town Square Painting Workshop
25 May 2025 News
Artists looking to shake up their creative process can explore new ways of seeing and painting during a thought-provoking workshop. Art MidWisconsin will present New Approaches and Re-Approaches in Painting on Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 am to Noon at Town Square Community Center, 492 Hill Street in Green Lake.
Led by long-time Green Lake artist and educator Pat Dobrinska, this class is designed for intermediate to advanced artists ready to stretch beyond their comfort zones. Participants are asked to bring a finished painting to class and will spend the session reinterpreting it with a fresh perspective—exploring changes in lighting, medium, underpainting, or mood.
“Sometimes success can lead to repetition, and this workshop is about shaking that up,” said Pat Dobrinska. “Whether it’s switching mediums, flipping your light source, or experimenting with color, the goal is to push your creativity and rediscover your subject with new eyes.”
Dobrinska holds degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and has built a celebrated career as a portrait and landscape painter. Her work is shown in galleries and exhibitions across the country, and she has spent decades teaching artists to approach their craft with courage and curiosity.
New Approaches and Re-Approaches in Painting is part of the summer workshop series offered by Art MidWisconsin and hosted at Town Square. The cost for the workshop is $75. A supply list will be provided upon registration.
