5-22-25 Fire Destroys Home in Green Lake County

Fire destroyed a home at W2714 County Road S in Green Lake County’s Town of Manchester early Wednesday morning. Sheriff’s deputies arrived first around 4 am seeing flames coming from the roof. They also confirmed the occupants were out of the home. Eventually eight fire departments responded to the blaze as it escalated. An engine crew from the Grand River or Markesan Fire Department attacked the fire first knocking down a majority of the fire in the kitchen area. But there was heavy extension into the attic space and a partial roof collapse, slowing full extinguishment. Crews made efforts on the second story to pull the ceiling and get at the fire. They were able to slow the fire substantially. Numerous hot spots in the attic were not accessible. An elevated waterway was used to fully extinguish the blaze. The home sustained extensive fire, water, and smoke damage. It is considered a total loss. (Grand River Fire Department photo).
