Four Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s vehicles were damaged during a nearly 18-mile pursuit of a vehicle Monday morning that resulted in the arrest of the suspect vehicle’s driver and two passengers. The vehicle had been involved in a pursuit in the Town of Grand Chute before it was spotted in Fond du Lac County. During the course of the pursuit the vehicle entered County Airport property, but air traffic on the runways was temporarily halted there. The vehicle left the airport by driving through a field and continued to Johnson Street where it attempted to re-enter Interstate 41. As it took the on-ramp to I-41, a PIT maneuver was successfully used and squad cars boxed in the suspect’s vehicle. During the subsequent investigation it was learned the occupants discussed getting into a shootout with law enforcement. A Fond du Lac Police K9 conducted a search in the swampy area the vehicle drove through near an off ramp. A backpack was found containing drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun that had been tossed from the vehicle. Numerous charges are being brought against the 27-year-old Menasha man that was driving the vehicle and two passengers, a 27-year-old man and 31-year-old woman. One deputy was treated and released from the hospital for injuries suffered during a collision with the suspect vehicle.
