5/19/25 Mayville Residents Put Cleanup Efforts on Hold for High School Graduation
19 May 2025 News
Mayville residents paused from tornado cleanup and restoration efforts Sunday afternoon to celebrate the graduation of the High School Class of 2025. The 142nd Annual Graduation Ceremony was held at Ray Dunn Field. District Superintendent Scott Sabol told the gathering despite the hardships caused by the tornado they showed everyone what it meant to be Cardinal Strong. He says they came together for what mattered-the people. Valedictorian Isabelle Neumeyer related a funny story about when she was running in a cross-country event and was trailing the leader. She said the girl seemed to know where she was going so, she followed. Turned out they were on the wrong path. Neumeyer, who will be attending the U.S. Naval Academy, told her fellow students they need to follow their own path. School Board President Randy Clark talked about how much students chipped in with cleanup efforts following the tornado. He told a story about football players who helped build a chicken coop that was destroyed. When they went to lift it into place it was quite heavy. But they seemed to find the strength when they were told the coop didn’t weigh any more than Lomira’s front line. Power was restored to nearly all of the community by yesterday afternoon and Mayville School District officials say all their school buildings are running at 100 percent. Students return to classes today. (Mayville Cardinal school logo).
