16 May 2025 News

Dodge County Sheriff’ Dale Schmidt stopped short of calling what hit Dodge County last evening a tornado, saying it was up to the National Weather Service to make that call. But the powerful storms that hit Juneau and Mayville left behind downed trees and power lines, damaged homes and buildings, and crumpled a silo east of Juneau. The National Weather Service did report a tornado over Mayville. The storms moved through Dodge County about 6 pm. Sheriff Schmidt says only one person in Juneau had to be taken to the hospital and aside from that there were only minor injuries. Juneau Police Chief and Emergency Management Director David Beal confirmed there was a lot of damage in the city and it may take a few days for power to be restored. Displaced residents in Juneau are encouraged to report to the Dodgeland Schools and those in the City of Mayville to the TAG Center on Breckenridge Street. The Red Cross and Dodge County Health and Human Services have also been providing assistance. (Iron Ridge Fire Department and First Responders photo).
