Markesan has a new police chief, Doug Wiorek (WAR-ick) a retired Milwaukee Police sergeant with a law enforcement career spanning over three decades. He was a patrol officer for 13 years and a police supervisor for 19 years. Chief Wiorek joined the Markesan Police Department this past Monday. He succeeds Will Pflum who retired from the Markesan Police Department last month after 26 years the last ten years as Chief. Chief Wiorek has vast experience in police policy, technology and community policing. He is a proud husband and father of three adult sons who have followed his footsteps into either law enforcement or the fire service. In his spare time, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. Chief Wiorek will be hosting a community Meet and Greet in late May. (Markesan Police Department photos).
