30 March 2025 News

GREEN LAKE, WI, March 24,  2025 — Town Square Community Center is offering two opportunities for area youth and adults to gain lifesaving skills this spring. Certified instructor Barbara Kenny will lead a Babysitter & Childcare Safety Training Plus CPR/AED & First Aid Course on Saturday, April 26. A CPR/AED Training Course is taking place on Saturday, May 3. Both classes will be held in the Club Room at Town Square.

The Babysitter & Childcare Safety Training Plus CPR/AED & First Aid Course is designed for youth ages 11 to 17 and is on Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This one-day course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently care for infants and school-age children. Participants will learn how to respond to emergencies with first aid, perform CPR and rescue breathing, and apply other appropriate caregiving techniques. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a Babysitter’s Certification Card and a CPR/AED Certification Card, both valid for two years. Students will also receive class supplies, including a babysitter’s bag, a classroom first aid pack, and hands-on mannequin practice for interactive learning. Class size is limited, so participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible as spaces will fill quickly. The cost of the course is $85 per participant, and attendees should bring a sack lunch and beverages.

“I’m excited to return to Green Lake after the success of last year’s classes” Barb remarks. “I love helping participants gain the confidence and skills to respond in emergencies.” Barbara Kenny, a longtime volunteer and Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross, has over 16 years of experience teaching CPR, First Aid, Babysitter Training, Pet First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid.

The CPR/AED Training Course will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to individuals ages 11 and up. This course follows the latest science-based guidelines and will teach participants how to recognize and respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants will learn how to properly administer CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Those who successfully complete the course will receive an Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED Certification, valid for two years. The cost of the course is $45 per person, and no additional materials are required.

Spots for both classes are limited, and pre-registration is required. Participants can sign up online at greenlaketownsquare.org/cpr.
