Longtime Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby took to social media Thursday to share a heartfelt letter he penned to Titletown.
It comes one day after Crosby, who spent 16 seasons with Green Bay, revealed he will retire with the Packers. He ended his career as the green and gold’s all-time leading scorer, kicking for the Packers from 2007-2022.
In his letter, Crosby thanked the Packers and Green Bay community for their love and support and said Wisconsin will always hold a special place in his heart. He promised not to be a stranger, writing, “You will continue to hear and see me around.”
Crosby was originally selected by the Packers in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Colorado, played in 258 regular-season games and 23 postseason contests (most in team history) for Green Bay.
He ranks No. 1 in team history for games played and consecutive games played (258), and his 16 seasons (2007-22) are tied for the second most in franchise history (Aaron Rodgers, 18, 2005-22).
Crosby helped the Packers win a Super Bowl and nine division titles, reach the NFC Championship six times and make the playoffs 12 times.
The Packers opted against re-signing Crosby in 2023 and instead drafted Anders Carlson in the sixth round of that year’s draft. Crosby played three games for the New York Giants in 2023 and went 5 of 7 on field-goal attempts.
He did not play in the NFL for the 2024-25 season.
Aaron Rodgers is a four-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion and future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
He still may have to wait until after the draft to find a new team for 2025.
The New York Jets already have announced they’re releasing the 41-year-old quarterback after two disappointing seasons. Rodgers hasn’t said he definitely plans to keep playing, though he recently said he’d like to go to a team that wants him.
Several teams still need a starter. Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold and Justin Fields will be the top free agents at the position. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are expected to be the top two quarterbacks selected in the draft.
he Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball team routed Oakland 84-55 Thursday night in Horizon League Tournament quarterfinal play.
The program’s 20th consecutive win punches a ticket to Indianapolis for a semifinal against Robert Morris on Monday. Green Bay is looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament for a 2nd straight season, but needs two more wins to seal the deal.
Kimberly HS product Maddie Schreiber led the way with 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Fellow Horizon League First Team member Natalie McNeal added 14 points.
