3/7/25 Daylight Saving Time Reminder

7 March 2025 News

Daylight Saving Time begins early Sunday morning. It’s time to “Spring Forward” or set our clocks ahead an hour. Fire departments also remind residents that it is a good time to replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace those detectors if they don’t work. With the additional sunlight, Wisconsin Emergency Management says it is an ideal time to get your home ready to mitigate the effects of disasters. They recommend removing debris from your gutters, drains, and downspouts. Trim tree limbs and branches so they do not snap off during high winds and damage your home or contact your utility provider if they are hanging near power lines. If your home has a sump pump, test it to make sure it is clean and operable. Consider adding a battery-powered backup sump pump. Review your home insurance policies to ensure you are covered for hazards that threaten your area. More tips can be found at the Ready Wisconsin website.
