Without starter Max Klesmit for a second straight game, the Badgers endured a couple of concerning offensive lulls by committing only two turnovers in a resilient second half that saw an 11-point lead become a two-point deficit.
Wisconsin wraps up conference play Saturday against Penn State. Minnesota finishes Sunday at Rutgers.

UConn outrebounded the Golden Eagles 44-29, including 19-8 on the offensive glass, and held them to 3-for-22 shooting (13.6%) from 3-point range.
Marquette hosts No. 6 St. John’s ,Saturday which has already clinched the Big East title.
In spring training the Brewers beat the White Sox Wednesday, 8-2. Milwaukee is at the A’s tonight with the first pitch at 7:15.
DL Hall was placed on the 60-day injured list with a left lat strain on Wednesday to open a roster spot for fellow left-hander José Quintana, whose $4.25 million, one-year contract was finalized by the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers had revealed at the start of spring training that Hall was dealing with the lat issue.
Hall, 26, went 1-2 with a 5.02 ERA last season in 13 appearances, including seven starts. The Brewers acquired as well as infielder Joey Ortiz in a 024 trade that sent 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles.
Quintana gets a $250,000 bonus for being added to the major league roster in 2025 and a $2 million salary this year. His agreement includes a $15 million mutual option for 2026 with a $2 million buyout.
He can earn $1 million each season in performance bonuses: $100,000 each for 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 innings, and $100,000 apiece for 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 starts.
Quintana, 36, was 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA in 31 starts last year for the New York Mets during the second season of a $26 million, two-year contract. He struck out 135 and walked 63 in 170 1/3 innings. Over his last six regular-season starts, Quintana gave up four runs — three earned — in 36 1/3 innings.
He started the deciding game of New York’s NL Wild Card Series matchup with the Brewers and pitched six shutout innings in the Mets’ 4-2 victory, though he received no decision. Quintana had a total of three postseason starts, allowing six runs — five earned — over 14 1/3 innings.
Quintana now will compete for a spot in a Brewers rotation that returns right-handers Freddy Peralta, Tobias Myers and Aaron Civale. The two-time defending NL Central champions also added left-hander Nestor Cortes that sent two-time NL reliever of the year Devin Williams to the New York Yankees.
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 32 points to bring his career total over 20,000, Damian Lillard added 34 points and Kevin Porter Jr. had a triple-double as the surging Milwaukee Bucks trounced the short-handed Dallas Mavericks 137-107 on Wednesday night.
The 30-year-old Antetokounmpo has scored 20,010 career points, becoming the 52nd player to reach 20,000. The only players to get to the 20,000-point mark at a younger age were LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.
Antetokounmpo, who played less than 25 minutes, also had 15 rebounds as the Bucks won for the eighth time in their last nine games.
Porter had 10 points and 11 rebounds while playing 26 minutes off the bench, and he matched a career high with 14 assists. His previous triple-doubles came in March 2022 and March 2023 with the Houston Rockets.
Klay Thompson scored 28 for the Mavericks, who had only eight available players in their first game since Kyrie Irving tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Monday.
Mavericks: Dallas simply didn’t have enough players suited up to have much of a chance in this one.
Milwaukee was playing for a second straight night after winning 127-101 at Atlanta on Tuesday, but the one-sided nature of this win enabled Antetokounmpo and Lillard to get some needed rest. Both sat out the entire fourth quarter. Milwaukee has gone 7-1 since Bobby Portis began serving a 25-game suspension. Before this suspension, the Bucks had been 2-5 in games Portis had missed.
The Bucks posted their highest point total and most lopsided victory of the season.
The Bucks host the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
Former kicker Mason Crosby, who was with Green Bay for 16 seasons, has informed the club of his decision to retire with the Packers. The announcement was made Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst, according to the Packers website..
The 40-year-old Crosby announced his decision early February during his radio show on Milwaukee’s 105.7 The Fan. He ends his career as the Packers’ all-time leading scorer after kicking for Green Bay from 2007-22.
Crosby made 81.3% of his career field-goal attempts (400 of 492) and 97.2% of his extra points (739 of 760) during a career spent almost entirely in Green Bay.
The Packers opted against re-signing Crosby in 2023 and instead drafted Anders Carlson in the sixth round of that year’s draft. Crosby played three games for the New York Giants in 2023 and went 5 of 7 on field-goal attempts. He spent this season away from the game.
Crosby’s 1,918 points with Green Bay gave him 864 more than any other Packer. Ryan Longwell ranks second on Green Bay’s career scoring list with 1,054 points from 1997-2005. Counting those three games with the Giants, Crosby scored 1,939 points to rank 11th in NFL history.
Crosby also appeared in a franchise-record 258 games with the Packers, three more than Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre played for Green Bay from 1992-2007.
