The Milwaukee Bucks fell to 2-2 on their five-game road trip after losing to the Phoenix Suns 108-106 on Monday night.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 31 points while Brook Lopez scored 23, and down two points, Antetokounmpo defended both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on a single possession to force a missed shot, which led to a four-point play by Kyle Kuzma and a 105-103 lead with 1:22 left in the game.
But, with 26 seconds left in the game, Durant was able to get some space and knock down a 3-pointer to put the Suns up 106-105. On the other end, the Bucks decided not to use a timeout and Brook Lopez was able to draw a shooting foul. Lopez missed the first free throw, but made the second to tie the game at 106-106 with 10 seconds to go. The Bucks played good defense until Devin Booker used a screen to get open and he hit a 19-foot jumper to give the Suns a 108-106 victory.
Bucks player Brook Lopez said this about the end of the game, “It was a great screen. I saw; we had a bit of a miscommunication down under the basket. So I tried to help a little bit, try to give some space, but the big set a great screen, got ‘Book’ open and gave him a lot of room, a lot of separation to play with.”
With this loss, Milwaukee fell to 40-31 on the season and still are the 5th seed in the West by half a game over the Detroit Pistons.
The Bucks will finish their road trip on Wednesday in Denver to face the Nuggets.
The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up their Cactus League season with a 4 to 2 win Monday over the Colorado Rockies. They finished with a 16 and 14 record. The Brewers are off today and tomorrow. They open up the regular season at home against the New York Yankees Thursday at 2:05 pm.
Aaron Rodgers free-agency choices have narrowed considerably but the one-time Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback still has options. Sports analysts say the most likely choices are the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants or retirement. The Steelers, as has been the case since the start of free agency, are still the most obvious choice. For Rodgers, it’s by far his best chance to be with a team that can make the playoffs. The two sides had a long meeting last Friday.
President Donald Trump is inviting the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House so that they can celebrate their Super Bowl 54 title from five years ago. It’s an opportunity that the franchise did not get in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chiefs beat the San Franciso 49ers 31 to 20 in that Super Bowl.
