Wisconsin started its NCAA Tournament run with an 85-66 victory over No. 14 seed Montana on Thursday afternoon.
The No. 3 Badgers had a slow start and only led by eight points at halftime. Good shooting from Montana kept the game close, despite Wisconsin controlling the game for most of the first half.
The second half started out the same way as Montana continued to keep it close. Wisconsin was able to keep a steady advantage, but Montana kept the Badgers from creating a significant gap. That was until Carter Gilmore scored five straight points extending the Badgers’ lead from 51-47 to 56-47. Then, a 3-pointer from Nolan Winter built a 12-point advantage. Also joining the scoring was forward Xavier Amos after he hit a long-range shot with 9:52 left and extended the Badgers’ lead to 16 points. Although Montana attempted to rally back into the game, Wisconsin’s offensive efficiency and free-throw shooting kept the Grizzlies from completing the upset.
With this win, the Badgers move onto the round of 32 and will face 6th seeded BYU, who is coming off a 80-71 win over VCU. This game will tip-off on Saturday, March 22nd, at 6:45 p.m.
The Marquette Golden Eagles take their turn at the Big Dance tonight playing New Mexico. Marquette is the 7th seed in their region while the Lobos are seeded 10th. The game will air on TBS at 6:25 this evening.

The Lakers were outscored by 36 points during his playing time. Giannis led the Bucks with 28 points while Gary Trent Jr added 23 coming off the bench. The Bucks are off tonight they are at Sacramento for a game against the Kings tomorrow night at 9 pm.
