3/14/25 Brittany Kinser Running for State Schools Superintendent

14 March 2025 News

State Schools Superintendent candidate Brittany Kinser has more than 25 years of experience in the field of education including time in schools in Chicago, Milwaukee, teaching and being an administrator, and was as an advocate for a non-profit education advocacy group. She says it wasn’t until she started hearing complaints about how state testing standards had been changed under incumbent Jill Underly that she decided to run for the state office. Kinser says currently only 3 in 10 students read well enough to go to college or have a career.  Kinser feels she comes in with a clean slate, but has worked with people across the aisle in the state legislature enough to get things done. She says the state’s Department of Public Instruction needs to become an agency that is more transparent, predictable, and innovative. During her campaign she has frequently heard about how the school funding formula needs to be changed. She says she willing to work with those who can make it happen. Brittany Kinser faces the incumbent DPI Superintendent Jill Underly in the April 1st election.
