3/13/25 Fire Destroys Home in the Town of Metomen

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies and Brandon-Fairwater firefighters responded to a house fire at W13707 State Highway 44 in the Town of Metomen this afternoon. A 911 call at 3:06 pm reported the residence was fully engulfed in flames. When deputies arrived the entire west side of the residence was engulfed, and they were unable to find anyone in the home. Later it was learned no one was at home during the fire. Brandon-Fairwater firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze. The initial investigation found the fire started from a controlled burn in a ditch which spread to the residence’s lawn and subsequently to the house. No one was injured during the fire. The house is believed to be a complete loss. Brent and Emma Hopp own the property. Agencies assisting at the scene included Ripon, Markesan, Alto, City of Fond du Lac, Rosendale, Waupun, Green Lake, and Lamartine Fire Departments, RIT team 3, Ripon Guardian Ambulance, and Alliant Energy.
