
2/25/25 Deputy Involved in Fatal Shooting in Town of FDL

The state’s Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting death that occurred in the Town of Fond du Lac Monday evening. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted via phone about a person known to have a felony warrant. They also received information that person appeared to have a handgun in a waistband. Deputies found the wanted person in the 6300 block of Cherrywood Drive a short time later. The suspect refused to follow repeated commands, and a deputy discharged a non-lethal weapon. Shortly after, the suspect produced what deputies believed to be a firearm. A second deputy in response discharged their firearm at 6:22 pm striking the suspect. Law enforcement and EMS attempted life saving measures. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and died. The involved deputy was placed on administrative assignment. No law enforcement officers or members of the public were injured during the incident. Involved law enforcement officers were wearing body cameras during the incident. The DCI is leading the investigation and when it is complete will turn over investigative reports to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s office.
