Damian Lillard scored 28 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo had 23 points and 16 rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks used a strong fourth quarter to rally past the Miami Heat 120-113 on Sunday for their fourth consecutive victory.
Lillard, who sat out Friday night’s win over Washington with a hamstring strain, also had eight assists. Brook Lopez added 17 points, Kyle Kuzma and Gary Trent Jr. each scored 16, and Kevin Porter Jr. finished with 11.
Tyler Herro had 40 points, matching a season high, and 11 assists for Miami. Bam Adebayo scored 24, Andrew Wiggins had 20 and Kel’el Ware provided 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Bucks, who trailed by as many as 14, outscored the Heat 35-20 in the fourth. After a 3-pointer by Herro tied the score at 109, the Bucks closed the game on an 11-4 run.
Heat: Herro, a Milwaukee native and winner of the NBA 3-point shooting competition during All-Star weekend, went just 1 of 5 from deep in the first half and finished 3 for 12.
The Bucks Damian Lillard and Antetokounmpo, who were expected to be on playing-time restrictions due to injuries, played 38 and 22 minutes, respectively. Antetokounmpo played only 19 minutes Friday out of caution and because of foul trouble.
Milwaukee’s bench outscored Heat reserves 34-12.
The Heat play at Atlanta on Monday, and the Bucks visit Houston on Tuesday.
In spring training action Sunday, the Rockies beat the Brewers 6-1. Milwaukee hosts the Marineers this afternoon at Maryvale with the first pitch at 2:10 CT.
Nate Bittle had 23 points and Jackson Shelstad made a desperation 3 to force overtime as Oregon beat No. 11 Wisconsin 77-73 on Saturday.
Bittle, a 7-foot center, scored six points in overtime to help snap Wisconsin’s five-game winning streak. Shelstad scored 13 points as the Ducks (20-8, 9-8 Big Ten) extended their winning streak to four games.
Bittle played limited minutes in the first half with three fouls.
John Tonje had 22 points for Wisconsin (21-6, 11-5). Steve Crowl scored 12.
The Badgers have only lost two home games this season.
Shelsted hit his game-tying shot with 12 seconds left in regulation from several feet behind the 3-point arc. Wisconsin’s Max Klesmit missed a jumper to send the game to overtime tied at 66.
John Tonje scored 16 first-half points on 6-of-10 shooting and had three rebounds, two assists and one steal during the final 8:42 of the first half to put Wisconsin in control. He has been great for the Badgers this season, averaging 19.6 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Wisconsin had a costly, unforced error that led to Shelsted’s scoring opportunity. With 17 seconds left, the Badgers’ inbound pass to John Blackwell hit off his knee and went out of bounds.
Wisconsin had a season-high 17 turnovers in the loss. Crowl had six of them. Oregon turned it over just eight times.
Wisconsin hosts Washington on Tuesday night.
Jordan Dumont added 15 points to help Villanova (16-12, 9-8 Big East) snap a two-game losing streak overall and eight-game skid against Marquette (20-7, 11-5). The Wildcats have knocked off Big East powers St. John’s, UConn and Marquette at home this season.
Zaide Lowery scored 25 points for Marquette (20-7, 11-5). The Golden Eagles have lost four of six.
The Wildcats seemingly couldn’t miss in the first half when they raced to a 46-33 advantage. But Villanova looked similarly good at UConn on Tuesday night, only to surrender a 14-point advantage in the final 11:58. In that contest, UConn scored 27 of the final 33 points.
But there was no letdown for the Wildcats in the second half against Marquette, which never got within double-digits after halftime.
Villanova made 15 of 26 3-pointers.
Marquette hosts Providence on Tuesday night.
The Ripon College men’s basketball team won at home over Lawrence University Saturday, 56-50.
Luke Meinholz led three Red Hawks players in double figures with 14 points, followed by Cade Tackmier and Colby Williams, who each scored 13 points.
Ripon improves to 12-13 and 9-7 in the Midwest Conference.
UW-Oshkosh won at home over UW-Stout 75-51 Saturday.. Thomas Carter led the Titans with 24 points as Oshkosh improves to 13-12 overall and 4-10 in the WIAC.
In women’s college basketball Saturday Ripon College won at home over Lawrence University. 68-54. Ella Ten Pas led the Red Hawks with 19 points, as Ripon impoves to 21-3 overall and 15-1 in the Midwest Conference.
The UW-Oshkosh women lost at UW-Stout, 72-63 Saturday. Alex Rondorf led the Titans with 13 points and Kate Huml scored 11. The Titans drop to 22-3 overall and 11-3 in the WIAC.
The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Motor City Cruise 127-91.
Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Chris Livingston led the Herd with 20 points while two-way player Stanley Umude followed with 18 points.
The top scorers for the Motor City Cruise were Daniss Jenkins with 41 points and assignment player Bobbi Klintman with 23 points.
The Herd will take on the Windy City Bulls next at home on Tuesday, February 25th with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.
