The Packers will be without receiver Christian Watson for the playoffs and likely part of the 2025 season. The expected news coming Monday morning that the team’s best deep threat suffered a torn ACL in his right knee against the Bears on Sunday.

Watson went down with a non-contact injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday’s loss. He had missed the Week 17 game in Minnesota with a bruised left knee suffered in Week 16, and was questionable to play against the Bears. But Head Coach Matt LaFleur said after the loss that Romeo Doubs’ (illness) absence Sunday did have some impact on the decision to play Watson.

Watson finishes his 3rd season with 29 receptions for 610 yards and 2 TD. His 21.4 yards per catch average is by far the best on the team. 2025 will be his final season on his rookie contract, so he may have been in line for an extension this offseason. This injury may put any extension talks on hold.

The Packers are off today. The Packers are officially headed to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in a first round playoff matchup on Sunday Jan. 12 at 3:30 PM CT.

The Packers (11-6) finish as the 7-seed in the NFC,  Meanwhile, the Eagles (14-3) are the 2-seed.

The two teams squared off in Week 1 in Brazil, with the Eagles coming away victorious, 34-29, despite the Packers winning the turnover differential 3-1.

The Packers run to Super Bowl XLV began in the Wild Card weekend in Philadelphia, where Green Bay picked up a 21-16 upset

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 11 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds for his fourth triple-double of the season, Damian Lillard scored 25 points and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the struggling Toronto Raptors 128-104 on Monday night.

Antetokounmpo needed three stitches to close a cut near the base of his right pinkie, but returned to finish his third career triple-double against the Raptors.

Bobby Portis scored 20 points, Gary Trent Jr. had 17 against his former team and Brook Lopez added 16 for Milwaukee, which outscored the Raptors 63-24 in bench points and handed Toronto its 13th loss in 14 games.

Lillard scored 15 points in the third.

Milwaukee came in having lost two straight and four of five, all to teams with losing records. But the Bucks handled the Raptors, building a 33-point lead, 113-80, after a Lopez 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

RJ Barrett scored 25 points and Scottie Barnes had 21 for the Raptors. Jakob Poeltl scored 12 points, and Immanuel Quickley and Gradey Dick each had 11.

John Blackwell scored 21, Steven Crowl totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds and Wisconsin defeated Rutgers 75-63 on Monday night.

Blackwell made 8 of 15 shots with a 3-pointer and all four of his free throws as the Badgers (12-3, 2-2 Big Ten Conference) upped their win streak to four. Crowl hit 8 of 11 shots with two 3-pointers on the way to his first double-double of the season.

John Tonje added 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for Wisconsin.

Tyson Acuff scored 17 off the bench to lead the Scarlet Knights (8-7, 1-3), who lost for the first time in seven home games.

Blackwell had 13 points and Crowl scored 12 to help Wisconsin take a 43-34 into halftime. The Badgers scored the first six points and led by as many as 16 before the break. Rutgers closed within seven points before Kamari McGee hit a pullup jumper with one second left. Acuff scored 11 to pace the Scarlet Knights. Ace Bailey opened the second half with a 3-pointer for Rutgers to make it a two-possession game. The Scarlet Knights twice closed within three points — the second coming when Jeremiah Williams hit a pullup jumper to make 60-57 with 6:45 remaining.

But Tonje answered with a 3-pointer and Blackwell scored four straight at the free-throw line to cap a 13-2 run, putting Wisconsin up 14 with 90 seconds left.

The Badgers shot 54.4% from the floor and went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line. Rutgers shot 34.2% overall and made 6 of 13 at the foul line. Both teams hit seven 3-pointers.

Wisconsin will host Minnesota on Friday.

Jake Bauers and the Milwaukee Brewers agreed Monday to a minor league contract, and the first baseman will report to major league spring training.

Bauers became a free agent on Nov. 4 when he refused an outright assignment by the Brewers to Triple-A Nashville.

The 29-year-old hit .199 with a .301 on-base percentage, 12 homers, 43 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 116 games and 346 plate appearances for Milwaukee last season, striking out a career-high 118 times.

He also hit a seventh-inning homer off José Buttó that broke a scoreless tie in the decisive Game 3 of the Wild Card Series against the New York Mets, who rallied in the ninth to win 4-2.

Bauers has a .208 batting average with 51 homers and 183 RBIs in five seasons with Tampa Bay (2018), Cleveland (2019, ’21), Seattle (2021), the New York Yankees (2023) and the Brewers (2024).

Rhys Hoskins is projected to start at first base for the Brewers.

The Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson on Jan. 6, one day after Jacksonville’s season-ending loss to the Colts dropped the team to 4-13 on the campaign. Pederson leaves Duval with a 22-29 record over three seasons at the helm.

The Patriots fired head coach Jerod Mayo on Jan. 5, shortly after a win over the Bills in the season finale. Mayo produced a 4-13 record in his first season at the helm.

Cleveland fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson on Jan. 5, one day after the Browns’ season-ending loss to the Ravens, dropping them to 3-14 on the campaign.

The Seahawks fired offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb on Jan. 6 after one season as offensive coordinator according to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Tennessee tightened its grip on No. 1 in the AP Top 25 on Monday following a pair of lopsided wins, including one over SEC rival Arkansas, that left the Volunteers as the only undefeated team in men’s Division I college basketball.

The Vols picked up four more first-place votes and had 45 of 60 from the national panel to remain atop the poll for the fifth straight week. Auburn earned the other 15 first-place nods and stayed at No. 2, while Iowa State, Duke and Alabama rounded out a top five that was unchanged following the first week of conference play for many leagues around the country.

The Wildcats rode their win over Florida up four spots to No. 6. They were followed by Marquette, the Gators, UConn and Texas A&M, which routed Texas for the Aggies’ eighth consecutive win.

Kansas dropped four spots to No. 11 after losing a nailbiter to West Virginia and blowing out UCF. The Jayhawks were followed by Houston and Illinois — the biggest climber this week, moving up nine spots — along with Mississippi State and Oregon.

Michigan State was No. 16 and Oklahoma fell five spots after its 107-79 loss to the Crimson Tide. Gonzaga, Memphis and Purdue rounded out the top 20 after the Boilermakers beat Minnesota and Northwestern last week.

The Mountaineers, who followed their win over Kansas by beating Oklahoma State, were at No. 21 for their first ranking since Dec. 26, 2022. They were followed by UCLA, Mississippi, Michigan and Utah State, with the Wolverines returning after a two-week absence and the Aggies making their season debut at No. 25.
