1/23/25 First Fatal Traffic Accident of the Year for FDL County

Fond du Lac County reported its first fatal traffic accident of the New Year. It happened last night around 9:30 pm when a 911 call reported a two-vehicle crash in the area of Interstate 41 southbound near Winnebago Street in the Town of Friendship. Investigators say a southbound vehicle had pulled over on the median side of the interstate. Some people got out of the vehicle. A second car then struck the parked vehicle. During the collision, a passenger outside of the car was struck and died at the scene. Assisting at the scene were the State Patrol, North Fond du Lac Police, North Fond du Lac Fire Department, Van Dyne Fire Department, Fond du Lac Police, and the County Medical Examiner’s Office. Interstate 41 was closed for approximately 4.5 hours.
