1/13/25 Two Plainfield Teens Involved in Fatal Portage County Accident

Two Waushara County teens were involved in a fatal traffic crash in Portage County near Almond Sunday night that claimed the life of the driver and injured the passenger. The State Patrol responded to the crash on Harding Road north of Akron Avenue in the Town of Pine Grove at 9:15 pm. Investigators say evidence suggests the 16-year-old Plainfield boy driving the 2008 Ford Ranger was heading north on Harding Avenue when the pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver died at the scene and his passenger a 16-year-old Plainfield girl was taken to Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol is investigating the crash. Assisting agencies included the Portage and Waushara County Sheriff’s Offices, Plainfield Fire Department, Waushara County EMS, and Portage County Medical Examiner’s Department.
