12/9/24 Chase Leads to Arrest of Reckless Driver

9 December 2024 News

An attempt to stop a reckless driver on Interstate 41 northbound near Lost Arrow Road in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Byron early Monday morning resulted in an 8.5-mile traffic chase. No one was hurt during the pursuit, but a Sheriff’s squad car was damaged. The chase briefly entered Fond du Lac. The suspect’s vehicle failed to negotiate a curve south of County Highway OO sliding into the steep shoulder where it became Immobile. Once it was stopped a high-risk traffic stop was conducted. The 37-year-old Milwaukee man driving the vehicle was wanted on probation and parole warrants out of Milwaukee County. He was arrested and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail for felony fleeing and eluding, reckless endangering safety, felon in possession of a firearm, and operating while impaired. The 35-year-old Milwaukee man who was with him was taken into custody then released without any charges. North Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac Police, and the State Patrol assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
