The Packers returned to the practice field Thursday as they get ready for Monday night’s game at Lambeau Field against the New Orleans Saints (5-9). Green Bay (10-4) trails the Vikings and Lions who are both 12-3 with three games remaining in the regular season. A win gives the Packers an automatic berth in the post season.
A key factor in the game is the Saints offensive line vs. Packers pass rush. Green Bay’s pass rush has been inconsistent, but the Packers are coming off a seven-sack performance against Seattle. Kingsley Enagbare led the way with two sacks. QB Spencer Rattler could start for New Orleans in place of an injured Derek Carr and the Saints won’t have much of a chance if he doesn’t have time to throw. The Saints are allowing just two sacks per game, putting them in a tie for eighth in the league.
CB Jaire Alexander was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. He missed the Seattle game with a knee injury. Safety Jason Bullard (ankle) and LB Quay Walker (ankle) did not partiipate while tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) and CB Corey Ballentine saw limited duty.
The Saints listed eight players on the injury report. Among those were quarterback Derek Carr (left handed) RB Alvin Kamara (groin), WR Bob Means (ankle), WR Marquez Valdez-Scantling ( (chest) and DE Chase Young (illness) who did not practice.
In Thursday Night Football the Chargers battled back to win at home over the Denver Broncos 34-27 to tighten the AFC West Wild Card race. The Chargers scored 15 points in the final quarter.
With no time left on the clock in the first half Thursday night, kicker Cameron Dicker and the Los Angeles Chargers made some history.
Dicker converted a 57-yard fair-catch field goal, the first such made kick since 1976, to end the half, cutting the Chargers’ deficit to eight points.
Justin Herbert completed 23 of 31 passes for 284 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and Gus Edwards rushed for 68 yards and two scores as the Chargers improved to 9-6 to tie the Broncos. The Chiefs lead the division at 13-1.
Denver quarterback Bo Nix was 29 of 40 for 263 yards and two touchdowns.
The game was tied at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter and the Broncos led 21-13 at the half and 24-19 at the end of three quarters.
