In Monday Night Football the Cowboys lost at home to the Bengals 27-20.

In a game in which neither team put its winning foot forward, Dallas forced a punt that appeared it would be pivotal to the final outcome. Former Bengals linebacker Nick Vigil  broke through the punt team protection and blocked the punt, sending it fluttering toward the Bengals’ sideline where the Cowboys’ Amani Oruwariyi  attempted to recover it instead of getting away from the live ball. It slipped through his grasp, free for the Bengals to recover and retain possession, which they did. That gave the Bengals new life, which Joe Burrow  and Co. did not waste, covering 57 yards in three plays, with the last 40 coming on a Burrow completion to JaMar Chase  for a tiebreaking touchdown with just 61 seconds left on the clock.

Burrow completed 33 of 44 passes for 369 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. JaMar Chase had a huge night, catching 14 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns and Chase Brown caught the other touchdown pass.

The Cowboys Cooper Rush was 16 of 31 for 183 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. CeeDee Lamb caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Rico Dowdle gained 131 yards on 18 carries.

Cincinnati improves to 5-8 while Dallas falls to 5-8.

The Green Bay Packers signed OL Michael Jordan to the practice squad and released T Spencer Rolland from the practice squad. The transactions were announced Monday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Jordan (6-6, 315), a fifth-year player out of Ohio State, rejoins the Packers after spending nearly all of the 2023 season on Green Bay’s practice squad. Overall, Jordan has played in 67 regular-season games with 40 starts in his career (2019-24). Jordan was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round (No. 136 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. After two seasons with the Bengals (2019-20), he played two years with the Carolina Panthers (2021-22). Jordan spent most of this season with the New England Patriots, appearing in 12 games with 11 starts. In college, he earned first-team All-America honors from SI.com and second-team recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation in 2018. Jordan will wear No. 70 for the Packers.

The Packers are off today before starting to get ready for Sunday’s game in Seattle against the Seahawks.

The Milwaukee Bucks are back in action tonight hosting Orlando in an NBA Cup quarterfinal game. Milwaukee ended its two-game losing streak Sunday with a 118-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Giannis Antetkounmpo had 34 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to lead the way.

Tuesday’s tipoff is at 6:00 at Firserv Forum.

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Indiana Mad Ants 115-108.

Henry Ellenson powered the Herd to their second win of the season with a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds. Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Tyler Smith followed with 22 points.

The top scorers for the Indiana Mad Ants were Cameron McGriff with 19 points and Tristen Newton with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Herd will return home to take on the Motor City Cruise on Wednesday, December 11 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.

In college basketball Tuesday night the Badgers hope to break a two-game losing streak as they play at#18 Illinois. Wisconsin (8-2, 0-1) lost twice last week including Saturday’s 88-74 loss at #5 Marquette. Illinois (6-2, 0-1) lost its last game in overtime to Northwestern, 70-66.

Tennessee is the new No. 1 in men’s college basketball after a massive shakeup in the AP Top 25. The Vols received 58 first-place votes from a 62-person media panel Monday to reach No. 1 for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Tennessee climbed two spots from last week after Kansas lost twice and Auburn fell to No. 4 Duke. The Tigers remained No. 2 and received three first-place votes.

No. 3 Iowa State had one first-place vote and climbed three places from last week for its highest ranking since 1956-57. Kentucky rounded out the top five.

In all, 14 ranked teams lost last week, including six teams in the top 10; Kansas and then-No. 11 Wisconsin lost twice. Only two teams — Auburn and No. 12 Oregon — remained in the same poll spots they were a week ago and the volatility saw five teams jump into the rankings.

Wisconsin fell this week to 20th after losing twice last week.

Tennessee has returned to the Associated Press Top 25 at No. 19, ending the school’s longest drought in the 48-year history of the women’s basketball poll.

The Lady Vols (7-0) had not been ranked since Nov. 27, 2023, a span of 22 polls. Since the rankings began in 1976, Tennessee has been in the Top 25 in 779 of 870 total weeks (89.5%).

UCLA, UConn and South Carolina remained the top three teams in the poll released Monday. The Bruins received 24 first-place votes from the 32-member national media panel. UCLA beat Washington by 11 in its lone game last week. The Huskies garnered the other eight top votes after routing Louisville 85-52 in the Women’s Champions Classic.

LSU and USC each moved up a spot after then-No. 4 Texas lost to Notre Dame 80-70 in overtime. The Longhorns fell to sixth and the Irish rose two spots to eighth. Maryland was seventh. Duke and Oklahoma rounded out the first 10, with Sooners moving up a spot.
