10/4/24 Kamala Harris Holds Rally at Ripon College

4 October 2024 News

During a campaign rally at Ripon College Thursday former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney and Vice President Kamala Harris both took former President Donald Trump to task for the January 6th riot at the Nation’s Capital and his failure to do anything to quash it. Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, was in Ripon to throw her support behind Harris’ bid for the Presidency. She is one of a number of Republicans including her father who now support Harris. Liz Cheney says Trump put a lot of people at risk on January 6th. “Donald Trump was willing to sacrifice our capital, to allow law enforcement officers to be beaten and brutalized in his name and to violate the law and the Constitution in order to seize power for himself.” Harris told the gathering that Trump should never be President again. “Anyone who has called for I quote, ‘Termination of the Constitution of the United States,’ as Donald Trump has must never again stand behind the seal of the President of the United States.” Harris also talked about a recent conversation with Ukraine President Volodymr Zelenskyy in which she pledged to support Ukraine in its war with Russia. RIGHTING THE SHIP

Patriotism over Partisanship, it’s a reference former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney made while endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for President during a rally at Ripon College Thursday. Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, and a number of Republicans are supporting Harris bid for the Presidency. Liz Cheney says it is time to right the ship. “So, help us right the ship of our Democracy so that history will say of us when our time of testing came, we did our duty, and we prevailed because we love our country more.” Harris told the gathering what we have is precious and what America stands for is worth fighting for. “The United State of America is the greatest idea Humanity ever devised, the nation that inspired the world, to believe in the possibility of a representative government.” For Harris it was her fifth visit to Wisconsin since launching her campaign in July.

STRATEGIC SITE FOR RALLY

The “Birthplace of the Republican Party” Ripon, Wisconsin was the site of a rally for Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris Thursday. There was strategy involved in choosing Ripon and Ripon College for the Vice President’s rally. Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney, a Republican, and a growing number of Republican leaders are supporting Harris’ bid for the Presidency. Harris made reference during her speech to the Little White Schoolhouse where the Republican Party was formed in 1854 at that time during a growing divide over slavery. Harris says the country is once again facing a divide and we need to come together. “And if people across Wisconsin and our nation are willing to do what Liz is doing to stand up for the rule of the law, for our Democratic ideals, and the Constitution of the United States. Then together I know we can chart a new way forward, not as member of any one party, but as Americans.” Four years ago, then Vice President Mike Pence campaigned on behalf of President Donald Trump during a rally at Ripon College.
