The Packers return to the practice field Wednesday as they get ready for Sunday’s game in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. Green has won three straight, the latest a 24-22 win at Lambeau Field 24-22, on a 45-yard field goal by new kicker Brandon McManus as time expired.  The Packers are 5-2 overall in the NFC North and trail the Lions and Vikings, who are both 5-1. Detroit wao on a late field goal over the Vikings, 31-29 in Minneapolis. The Bears are 4-2 and coming off a bye this past Sunday.

The Jaguars come into the game, 2-5.

Meanwhile, the Packers have released FB Andrew Beck from the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Tuesday.

Beck was on the Packers’ practice squad all season, appearing in three games as a gameday elevation.

The NB A regular season got underway Tuesday.

Boston Celtics 132, New York Knicks 109

Los Angeles Lakers 110, Minnesota Timberwolves 103-LeBron and Bronny James  made history by being on the court together.

They became the first father-son duo in NBA history to appear in a game together when they checked in with 4:00 left in the second quarter. LeBron started and had already played 13 minutes before he reentered with Bronny for the historic moment.

Lebron scored 16 points while Bronny did not score.

Anthony Davis scored 36 points, had 16 rebounds and 3 blocks to lead the Lakers.

The Bucks start their season Wednesday night playing on the road against the 76ers,

Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday that Bucks forward Khris Middleton isn’t expected to play in the opener. The three-time All-Star hasn’t had any 5-on-5 work in the preseason as he recovers from offseason surgeries to each of his ankles.

Rivers said Middleton’s injury is more of a day-to-day issue and shouldn’t keep him out long. A variety of injuries limited Middleton to 55 regular-season games last year and 33 in 2022-23.

Meanwhile, Paul George’s debut with the Philadelphia 76ers is on hold and Joel Embiid is again set to miss time with an injury.

Embiid and George will miss Wednesday’s season opener against Milwaukee and could miss more games as the All-Stars expected to try to lead Philadelphia to its first championship since 1983 return from injuries.

George was set to make his Sixers debut after he left the Los Angeles Clippers and signed a four-year, $212 million contract as a free agent this summer. But the 34-year-old George got a bone bruise when he hyperextended his left knee during a preseason game.

The Sixers did not say Tuesday how many more games George could miss; his return to play will be assessed later in the week.

Tipoff is at 6:30 CDT.

The Milwaukee Brewers have made a change at hitting coach, with Al LeBoeuf (leh-buff) and Eric Theisen coming up from their Triple-A affiliate to take over for Connor Dawson and Ozzie Timmons.

Brewers’President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold announced the moves on Monday.

LeBoeuf will have the title of lead hitting coach, while Theisen will be on Milwaukee’s staff as hitting coach. They worked together this year as the hitting coaches for Triple-A Nashville.

Dawson and Timmons had been Milwaukee’s co-hitting coaches for the last three seasons. Arnold said Dawson would remain on the Brewers’ coaching staff next season but Timmons wouldn’t be back.

LeBoeuf, 64, has been a Triple-A hitting coach the last six years. He had been at Nashville since 2021. He coached with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2016. He joined the Brewers organization in 2010 after previously coaching in the farm systems of the Philadelphia Phillies (1989-2000), New York Mets (2001-05), Kansas City Royals (2006) and Toronto Blue Jays (2007-09).

“In his 15 seasons in the organization, Al has played a key role in the development of many of the young hitters you see on the major league team today,” Arnold said in a statement. “His familiarity and relationships with all these players will be a great resource for us. Al has had a long journey to get here and we are very excited for him.”

Theisen, 39, has spent the last four seasons in the Brewers organization. He joined the Brewers as a hitting coach with Single-A Carolina in 2021.

The Brewers ranked sixth in the majors in runs scored (777), eighth in batting average (.248), fourth in on-base percentage (.326), 13th in slugging percentage (.403) and 10th in OPS (.729) while winning their second straight NL Central title this season under first-year manager Pat Murphy.
