9/7/24 Oshkosh Armed Robbery Attempt Thwarted

7 September 2024 News

Oshkosh Police say an armed robbery Friday afternoon was thwarted at a Kwik Trip Store in the 200 block of West 20th Avenue when citizens intervened.  When officers arrived the suspect was being held at gunpoint by an armed guard that had been servicing an ATM machine. The 22-year-old Oshkosh man had tried to take the guard’s gun from its holster, but three people helped by holding the suspect down preventing him from taking the gun. The man was held at gunpoint until police officers arrived. The man had recently been staying in his vehicle in the parking lot of the business. He was taken into custody on charges of attempted homicide, attempted robbery, and terroristic threats. Police say the prompt actions of the citizens who intervened to help the armed guard were instrumental in preventing further harm and de-escalating the situation.
