9/6/24 Second Person Convicted in Ripon Drug Death

A second person has been convicted in Fond du Lac County court for their role in the drug overdose death of an 18-year-old Ripon man in April of last year. Seventeen-year-old Joseph Schmidt-Rehbein of Ripon pled no contest this morning to first-degree reckless homicide. His bond was revoked, and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for December 20th. Five other charges were read into the record and dismissed. On August 1st 18-year-old Maison Springston of Ripon pled no contest to the same charge. A status conference is scheduled in his case on October 10th. As for the others Michael Manske has a plea hearing Tuesday, Donavyn Mueller a five-day jury trial on November 4th, and Olivia Nordvold a plea hearing on November 11th. According to the criminal complaint the victim took a pill believed to be Percocet at a Ripon home and overdosed. He was taken from the residence and left on a sidewalk. The pill contained fentanyl. The cases were investigated by Ripon Police and prosecuted by District Attorney Eric Toney and ADA David Maas.
