The Packers are ready to go as they kick off their season schedule against the Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It’s the first ever NFL game in South America.
The Packers practiced Thursdaya t the training home of the major local soccer team Corinthians. They will not get a look at Arena Corinthians, site of the game, until Friday. The Eagles practiced at that stadium on Thursday, as they are technically the home team for the game.
Coach Matt LaFleur praised the local food, hospitality and the arrangements on Thursday. He said the only downside was the long flight. He said they hope for a win to make the flight seem a little shorter on the way back.
The Packers listed TE Tucker Kraft (back), RB Marshawn Lloyd (hamstring) and RB Emanuel Wilson (hip) as questionable for Friday. The Eagles ruled out CB Isaiah Rodgers and LB Devin White.

The NFL season officially got under way Thursday night in Kansas City as the Chiefs held on for a 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Chiefs’ rookie first-round pick,Xavier Worthy turned in a blazing debut Thursday night, scoring two total touchdowns.
Worthy’s debut came with just three touches for 68 yards. He took an end-around and weaved 21 yards for the Chiefs’ first touchdown of the season and later scored on a 35-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes, which stood as the game-winner.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 291 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Ravens Lamar Jackson passed for 273 yards and a touchdown.
The Brewers were off Thursday but begin a three-game home series tonight at American Family Field against the Colorado Rockies. RHP Frankie Montas is scheduled to start for the Brewers. First pitch is at 5:10.
There were two games in the NL Central Thursday as the Reds shaded the Astros 1-0 and the Pirates beat the Nationals 9-4. The Brewers lead the Cubs by 9 games, the Cardinals by 10, the Reds by 13 ½ and the Pirates are 15 games behind.
In the Midwest League playoffs the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers lost at Cedar Rapids Thursday night to the Kernals, 5-3. They play again tonight with the first pitch at 6:35.
The Badgers host South Dakota tomorrow afternoon at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin opened the season with a 28-14 home victory over Western Michigan. The pregame starts at noon with the kickoff at 2:30 and can be heard on AM 1600/93.1 FM, WRPN, The WAVE.
On Thursday the Ripon Cross Country Team competed in the Tom Finlan Invitational. The Meet was held at Joseph Park in Green Bay and was hosted by Green Bay Preble High School.
The girls team ended up finishing second out of seven teams with 89 points while the boys team placed sixth out of the same number with 145 points
The top runners for the boys and girls were Aidan Ruedinger who came in 12th and Addy Baird who finished 11th.
The Tigers will travel to Mayville next Friday, September 13th, for the Mike Hurlburt Invite.
