9/21/24 Madison Woman Charged in Waupun Prison Overdose Death

21 September 2024 News

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say a 37-year-old Madison woman was arrested Thursday and booked into the County Jail on a first-degree reckless homicide charge. The charge against Janelle Hill stems from an investigation started in June 2022 when a Waupun Correctional Institution inmate died from a drug overdose. During an autopsy of the victim latex balloons were recovered containing a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl. During a visit to the prison Hill delivered the balloons to the victim the day before his death.  It is believed the balloons became compromised while in the victim’s body causing his death from drug toxicity.
