9/15/24 Town Square Brings Back Quilts for Lobby Artist Display

15 September 2024 News

GREEN LAKE, WI, — Fall is quickly approaching, and Town Square Community Center’s Lobby Art Gallery is bringing back the exhibition of barn quilts that a local artist generously donated.  The gallery is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, and Saturdays 9 am to 3 pm at 492 Hill St, Green Lake, WI.

“I started painting smaller ‘porch hangers’ or ‘shed quilts’ as a hobby after I saw some examples online,” said the artist who would like to remain anonymous.” I started out using scrap pieces of wood that I cut into geometric shapes which I painted and then glued to a regular plywood backing.”

The artist has perfected their practice by utilizing professional sign-making material that is lightweight and requires less prep work.  The pieces on display can also be found online at greenlaketownsquare.org/lobby-artist.

“With Harvest Fest around the corner, we’re thrilled to have the barn quilts back,” Kris Anderson, Executive Director commented. ”We are so thankful to the generous donor making these beautiful pieces available for people to purchase.”

In a gesture of community support and philanthropy, all proceeds from the artwork sales will benefit Town Square, reinforcing its mission to provide cultural, social, recreational, and educational opportunities to the people of Green Lake.
