9/14/24 Confirmation Remains Were That of Elijah Vue

14 September 2024 News

Two Rivers Police Friday confirmed that the human remains found the previous weekend in Manitowoc County were that of the missing boy Elijah Vue. A hunter preparing for an upcoming hunt found the bones and a skull on private property. Authorities took them to the state crime lab for identification. During a press briefing Two Rivers Police Chief Ben Meinnert said, “This is not the outcome we had hoped for.” He added, “The family is devastated, we’re devastated, our community is devastated. I never met Elijah, but I watched that three-year-old boy bring out the best in this community.” What was a search now turns into a death investigation. It’s been nearly seven months since Elijah disappeared. The area where the remains were discovered is just 3 miles northwest of where the boy was reported missing. Elijah was staying with his mother’s boyfriend Jesse Vang at the time of his disappearance. Vang reported him missing on February 20th. Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, had sent her son to live with Vang for disciplinary reasons. Both are charged with child neglect.
