8/2/24 Ripon Man Pleads No Contest to Reckless Homicide in Fentanyl Death

One of the five people charged in the overdose death of an 18-year-old Ripon man has pled no contest to a first-degree reckless homicide charge for his role in the April 7th, 2023 death. Eighteen-year-old Maison Springton of Ripon was in Fond du Lac County court for the plea hearing yesterday. Four other charges were read into the record and dismissed. A pre-sentence investigation report was ordered and a sentencing hearing will be scheduled. According to the criminal complaint the victim took a pill believed to be Percocet at a Ripon home and overdosed. He was taken from the residence and left on a sidewalk. The pill contained fentanyl. As for the four others charged in relation to the victim’s death; Olivia Nordvold has a plea hearing today, Donavyn Mueller has a motion hearing today and a jury trial starts next Tuesday, Joseph Schmidt-Rehbein has a plea hearing next Monday and a jury trial on September 9th, and Michael Manske has a plea hearing on August 6th.
