WASHINGTON COUNTY BURGLARY AND HIGH-SPEED CHASE
Washington County Sheriff’s deputies caught a burglary suspect following a high-speed chase on State Highway 175 early Saturday morning. Sheriff’s officials say they got a call from a homeowner living in the 5300 block of Highway 175 in the Town of Addison just after 2 am. The woman reported she encountered an intruder in her residence who then fled in a vehicle. A deputy observed the suspect’s vehicle heading south on Highway 175 traveling at speeds of 90 miles an hour. Slinger Police successfully deployed spike strips in the village. The pursuit concluded at the intersection of Highway 175 and Pioneer Road. The driver, a 41-year-old Chicago, Illinois man surrendered without further incident. Ring video footage helped confirm him as the suspect in the break-in. He pried open and broke a sidelight window adjacent to the front door. Nothing of value was taken, but he did have property appearing to be from the residence. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail on burglary charges.
MISSING KAYAKER SONAR EQUIPMENT USED
Green Lake County Chief Deputy Sheriff Matt Vande Kolk says as important as the personnel, boats, and drone used in the search for a missing kayaker on Green Lake are, a piece of equipment became more important as they expanded that search effort. He says regular sonar equipment is efficient in a recovery effort up to 60 feet, but as they expanded their efforts from the initial search for the 44-year-old man on the west end of Big Green Lake they were getting into much deeper waters. He says the towable sidescan sonar from Bruce’s Legacy and Recovery became more important. He says it can be run close to the bottom and get a detailed return which is important with the deep waters of Green Lake to be able to search effectively beyond 50 or 60 feet. He says they are grateful Bruce’s Legacy has been able to help them out as they entered deeper parts of the Lake. Vande Kolk notes the deepest portion is 220 to 230 feet with a maximum depth of 237 feet.
