Shohei Ohtani hit his National League-leading 37th home run and the Los Angeles Dodgers finished with four homers in a 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night that extended their winning streak to five games.

Gavin Lux and Andy Pages each hit a two-run home run during a five-run fourth inning that gave the Dodgers a 7-1 lead.

Will Smith also homered as the NL West-leading Dodgers improved to 71-49 and matched the Cleveland Guardians for the best record in the majors.

The Dodgers’ Gavin Stone (10-5) allowed one run on three hits in five innings, striking out six with no walks in an 86-pitch outing.

Teoscar Hernandez singled to open the fourth and Lux followed with his seventh homer. Smith singled, advanced to third on Migel Rojas’ double, and scored on Kiké Hernádez’s sacrifice fly. Pages hit the first pitch of his at-bat for his ninth homer.

Colin Rea (10-4) was tagged for seven runs and 10 hits in six innings, including all four homers. He lost for the second time in 14 outings, including 11 starts.

Smith staked the Dodgers to a 1-0 lead with two outs in the second, sending a 3-2 pitch 412 feet to left for his 16th homer.

Ohtani made it 2-0 in the third with a two-out solo shot to right-center.

William Contreras answered in the bottom half, capping a 10-pitch at-bat with his 15th homer, cutting Milwaukee’s deficit to 2-1.

The Brewers got a run in the seventh inning on three singles off Landon Knack, who pitched the final four innings and earned his first career save.

Right-hander Frankie Montas (5-8, 5.10) starts for Milwaukee, while right-hander Walker Buehler (1-4, 5.84) is scheduled to be activated of the IL and make his first big league start since June 18th. First pitch is at 7:10. Elsewhere in the NL Central Tuesday the Indians edged the Cubs 2-1, the Reds downed the Cardinals 4-1 and the Padres blanked the Pirates 3-0. The Brewers remain 7 ½ games ahead of the Cardinals, 8/1/2 over the Reds, 9 games over the Cubs and the Pirates are 11 games behind.

In the Midwest League Tuesday the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers won at home over Peoria 6-2. They play again this afternoon with the first pitch at 12:10 from Fox Cities Stadium.

The Packers are on the road this Sunday night in Denver against the Broncos. Green Bay won its first preseason game last Saturday at Cleveland, the over the Browns, 23-10.

Jordan Love and the starters are not expected to play again.  Right now he’s sharpening up his game in practice.

“Just trying to get the most out of the practice. The practices are pretty good. I think to be able to go against somebody else for a little bit. Get some different periods out there, get to see some different pressures, different things from a different scheme. It’s good but you treat it the same way,” said Love.

Love watching from the sidelines means more opportunities for back-ups Sean Clifford and rookie Michael Pratt. Pratt turned heads in his preseason debut by making plays with his arm and throwing shoulder, literally. The seventh round pick laid a block to clear the way for running back Emmanuel Wilson in the second half of Saturday’s game against the Browns.  Pratt also got an opportunity to lead the second team offense in the final two team periods of the day.

The Packers also saw a pair of rookies return to the practice field on Tuesday. First round pick Jordan Morgan was limited in practice after missing the past week with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, linebacker Ty’ron Hopper was back on the field after missing due to an ankle injury.

Also on the injury front, starting inside linebacker Quay Walker did not participate in team periods on Tuesday.
