MANAWA AND WAUPUN DEAL WITH FLOODING CLEAN UP
Manawa city officials issued an update on flooding in the community. The boil water advisory has been cancelled. They are in contact with a garbage company about picking up flood-damaged items. They are asking residents not to enter Lindsay Park. It is closed and will remain so until it is cleaned up. They also say the bridge by the Rodeo Grounds on County Highway B is still blocked off. They also ask residents to avoid barricaded areas. They will be meeting with Emergency Management this week to come up with a plan in case they need information to get help from FEMA. They also recommend residents take pictures of their flood-damaged items, list those items, and any costs incurred due to the situation.
In Waupun dumpsters will be at the City Garage for flood-damaged items. No appliances or hazardous chemicals will be accepted. Most roads affected by flooding in Waupun have been reopened. If barricades are up, do not go around them.

RIPON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
Ripon City Administrator Adam Sonntag says a housing development agreement with Machkovich Lands LLC is a great chance to do something with Tax Incremental District 10 and provide some much needed housing for the city. He says the property has sat vacant for a long time and they have been working with developers over the last three years to generate some interest. Just less than 58 acres will be developed. Machkovich in partnership with Adashun-Jones, plan to construct 14 units on the property. Sonntag says the City will provide $445,000 in TID monies for the extension of Parkside Street and private infrastructure development. In return, Machkovich pledges to transfer ownership of all infrastructure facilities to the City and includes over $5 million of planned investment in the community. Sonntag says there is the potential to do more with another 50 plus acres and commercial frontage property in that area. Groundbreaking for the project is scheduled for this summer.

UPRIVER LAKES STURGEON SPEARING TAGS DEADLINE
The state’s Department of Natural Resources is reminding sturgeon spearers that the deadline to apply for Upriver Lakes spearing tags is August 1st. Due to a higher success rate on the Upriver Lakes, only 500 license holders will be selected to spear a sturgeon from lakes Poygan, Winneconne or Butte des Morts during the 2025 sturgeon spearing season. These spearing tags will be issued through a drawing where priority is given to applications with the most preference points. Those applying as a group will have their point value based on the individual with the lowest points within the group. Spearers can also choose to purchase a preference point instead of applying for a tag. Applicants selected to purchase an Upriver Lakes sturgeon spearing license will be notified by October 1st. The 2025 Winnebago System sturgeon spearing season will be on February 8th on Lake Winnebago and the Upriver Lakes.
