7/5/24 Second Shooting Incident in Columbia County

Two Reedsburg men are facing attempted first-degree intentional homicide charges in Columbia County for allegedly shooting at a vehicle on State Highway 16 near County Highway O in the Town of Newport Thursday evening. At 7:44 pm Columbia County Dispatch got a 911 call reporting the shooting. The caller gave a description of the vehicle involved and a direction of travel. Portage Police located the suspect vehicle as it entered the city limits. A traffic stop was conducted and two men, 33-year-old Jose Ivan Costales Morrero and 30-year-old Hector Javier Colon Rosa were taken into custody. A firearm was located. Deputies arrived at the 911 caller’s location and confirmed the person’s vehicle had been shot. The three people involved in the incident knew each other and it appears to be a targeted shooting. Both men are facing attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and other charges. They are in the Columbia County Jail awaiting their initial court appearances.
