7/21/24 Shed Fire at the Breezy Hill Campground

Fire destroyed a shed at the Breezy Hill Campground in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Byron Saturday evening. The shed at N4177 Cearns Lane is used to store equipment and horses. When a Sheriff’s deputy arrived, there was a significant amount of smoke and flames coming from the roof of the shed. The horses had been safely removed from the shed and people were trying to get equipment and other items out of it. No one was injured, but paramedics evaluated two people at the campground for smoke inhalation. The attic area and roof sustained significant fire and water damage. The shed is believed to be a total loss. Jon and Jennifer Wiltzius own the property. The fire is believed to have started in an exterior electrical box, and then spread to the roof area. The Eden Fire Department was assisted in putting out the fire by personnel from 11 other fire departments and agencies. The time of the fire call was 5:36 pm.
